CONTINUING THE TRADITION
amplifying the voice.
In West African tradition, a griot (grē•ō) was a member of a class
of traveling poets, musicians, and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history.
Through the creative telling of stories, the Griot pass on genealogies,
theology, life skills, and even recipes.
While the oral tradition of storytelling has evolved to include media,
and technology, there is no denying the power of telling a good story.
““You’re never going to kill storytelling, because it’s built in the human plan. We come with it.” ”
